Prostate Walking Group

Led by volunteers, this is your chance to better your fitness and have the kinds of conversations that can only happen in a casual setting with those who have walked in your shoes. Explore a variety of routes and trails in good company. Walking group meets on Tuesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 11am. New routes weekly. Walking routes will be updated weekly.

We will meet at Barb’s Fish and Chips in James Bay at 10 am on Tuesday September 19.  The walk will probably be to the end of the Breakwater and back.  There is normally plenty of parking on Superior St.

We will meet at the east end of Dalewood at 11 am on Thursday September 14.  The walk will be around Rithet’s Bog.  Dalewood runs off Chatterton just south of Royal Oak Ave.

Prostate Cancer Speaker Series – Hybrid Meeting

Dr. Colin Lundeen, Urologist, will present: The Radical Prostatectomy Journey

Our monthly Prostate Cancer Speaker Series is the place to hear from subject matter experts in the prostate health field, and to meet with others who have received a diagnosis.

This meeting will be held both in-person at Oak Bay Recreation Centre and online via Zoom. To register for the in-person meeting, please email coordinator@islandprostatecentre.com  

The format of the evening will go as follows:
• 6:55 PM – Zoom & In-person meeting will open, allowing you time to log in.
• 7:00 PM – Welcome and introductions from Island Prostate Centre.
• 7:05 PM – Presenter will begin presentation, allowing time for questions at the end.
• 8:00 PM – Once the presentation is complete, participants will continue with group discussions.
Our group discussion will be facilitated by our Volunteer Management team, but the topics and questions will be driven by you. Depending on the group’s interest, we will focus the discussion on topics like: Newly Diagnosed, Active Surveillance, Surgery, ADT/ Radiation, Spousal Support.

Since 2010, the Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live has brought thousands of riders from across the Island together to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.

The 13th Annual Westcoast Motorcycle Ride to Live on September 10, 2023 is a time to celebrate survivors, families, loved ones and remember those we’ve lost.

Consider making a donation when you register for this event. Your gift means Island Prostate Centre can provide navigation support, exercise programs, and counselling services to meet the growing need in our community.

Here are a few details about the event:

The route: CLICK HERE to view the new route. We’ve created a shorter 80km ride to Crofton and back through North Cowichan to Enrico Winery.

Registration fee: $40 per person. All riders and their passengers must be registered with a signed waiver on file to participate.

Event day schedule: 

8:00am – Day of registration opens

9:45am – Opening ceremony

10:00am – Kickstands up! Riders leave Enrico Winery

11:30am – Food Trucks & Entertainment at Enrico Winery

12:00pm – Riders return to Enrico Winery
