In the Beginning

November 2025 marks a significant milestone for Island Prostate Centre.

It all started in 2000 when the Capital Region Prostate Centre opened its doors with a mission to support Vancouver Island men and their families in making informed decisions about their prostate health. Our founders, Dr. Charles Ludgate and Dr. Gary Steinhoff, had a vision for providing the kind of care that would benefit whoever needed it…and the rest is history.

Heartfelt thanks to our community

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our entire ‘IPC family’: to all those who have accessed our services over the years; to our generous donors that have carried us and buoyed our spirits; to the volunteers who have given their time or served on our Board; to our caring and committee staff; and to every champion who has pointed someone facing a diagnosis to our care.
